proposals for the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies Research
Seminar, Comparative Archaeologies: The Iberian Peninsula (3000-1500
BC) and the American Southwest (AD 900-1600) to be held June
18-26, 2006 at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. Eight to
ten fellows will be selected: half specializing in the Iberian
Peninsula and half working in the American Southwest. Fellows
will be paid a $1,000 stipend, plus up to $1,500 (or $2,000 for
overseas travel) to cover travel, housing, and per diem for duration
of seminar. The seminar will bring together for the first time
archaeologists working in the American Southwest and in the Iberian
Peninsula to engage and discuss a common set of themes and problems,
including art, bodies, food, landscapes, and history. Papers
from the seminar will be included in an edited volume. The
application deadline is January 30, 2006. Visit the seminar
