viii+318 pages; illustrated throughout in colour and black & white.
Special price: £30 (RRP £38.00). Offer ends 30/09/2017
This volume explores the relevance of time travel as a characteristic contemporary way to approach the past. If reality is defined as the sum of human experiences and social practices, all reality is partly virtual, and all experienced and practiced time travel is real.

Recycling is a basic anthropological process of humankind. The reutilization of materials or of ideas from the Past is a process determined by various natural or cultural causes. Recycling can be motivated by a crisis or by a complex symbolic cause like the incorporation of the Past into the Present.

20% OFF: Cedar Forests, Cedar Ships Allure, Lore, and Metaphor in the Mediterranean Near East by Sara A. Rich. ISBN 9781784913656.
x+280 pages; highly illustrated throughout in colour and black & white.
Special price: £28 (RRP £36.00). Offer ends 30/09/2017
Drawing from object-oriented ontologies and other ‘new materialisms,’ this book constructs a hylocentric anti-narrative spreading from the Cretaceous to the contemporary. With a dual focus on the woods and the watercraft, and on the historical overlap between them, the book takes another step in the direction of challenging the conceptual binaries of nature/culture and subject/object, while providing an up-to-date synthesis of the relevant archaeological and historical data.
20% OFF: Archaeology with Art edited by Helen Chittock and Joana Valdez-Tullett. 2016. ISBN 9781784914929
xx+176 pages; illustrated in black & white throughout with 7 colour plates.
Special price: £24 (RRP £30.00). Offer ends 30/09/2017

x+320 pages; highly illustrated in colour throughout.
This meticulous investigation, based around a famous rock image, the ‘White Lady’, makes it possible to take stock of the mythical presuppositions that infuse a great deal of scientific research, especially in the case of rock art studies. It also highlights the existence of some surprising bridges between scholarly works and literary or artistic productions (novels, films, comic strips, adventure tales).

20% OFF: A Faith in Archaeological Science: Reflections on a Life by Don Brothwell. Archaeological Lives, 2016. ISBN 9781784913014.
vi+226 pages; illustrated in black and white throughout with 7 colour plates.
Special price: £24 (RRP £30.00). Offer ends 30/09/2017
This is the first memoir by an internationally known archaeological scientist, and one who has been particularly research active for over fifty years in the broad field of bioarchaeology. Written with humour and a critical concern to understand the nature of his life and that of our species, it provides a very readable and original account of a life embracing field and laboratory work from Orkney to Egypt and Mongolia to Peru.

Archaeological Fieldwork in the Transitional Zone Between Puuc and Chenes (Campeche, Mexico) By Iken Paap. Taken from Recent Investigations in the Puuc Region of Yucatán edited by Meghan Rubenstein. Pages 87-97.
After the peak of settlement activity on the peninsula of Yucatán during the Late to Terminal Classic period, there was an abrupt end to all typical construction activities, followed by a change in the function and use of buildings, the introduction of new architectural concepts, and–eventually–the final abandonment of the settlements. Preliminary results of recent excavations support the hypothesis that parts of the local population constructed and used the new building forms after the end of the Classic period.
Mjeltehaugen: Europe’s northernmost Bell Beaker _expression_? by Anette Sand-Eriksen. Taken from New Perspectives on the Bronze Age edited by Sophie Bergerbrant and Anna Wessman. Pages 7-18.
By focusing on the monumental mound Mjeltehaugen, situated on the outer coast of western Norway, the present article explores the Bell Beaker Culture’s northern influence. Through presenting an analysis of decorated slabs, alongside an assessment of style as an _expression_ of social identity, the study provides a better understanding of the enigmatic mound.

The central hypothesis of this research is that there was a wide range of resource utilization along with rice farming around 3,400-2,600 BP. This hypothesis contrasts with prevailing rice-based models, where climatically driven intensive rice agriculture from 3,400 BP is thought to be the dominant subsistence strategy that drove social complexity.
