Catarina Viegas obteve a classificação máxima, atribuída por unanimidade, nas suas provas de doutoramento.

O Júri, presidido pelo coordenador da área de História da FL-UL,  José Ramos, integrava Manuela Martins (U-Minho, arguente), Ana Margarida Arruda (FL-UL, arguente), Rui Morais (U-Minho, com intervenção), João Pedro Bernardes (Univ. Algarve, com intervenção), Victor S. Gonçalves e Carlos Fabião (ambos da FL-UL).

Investigadora da UNIARQ, desde a sua entrada como docente na FL-UL, Catarina Viegas é actualmente responsável pelo núcleo de interacção com a sociedade, designado por «Grupo 7».
