2nd International Seminar Thematic Cluster Meeting on
HERITAGE AND DIGITAL INNOVATION: Tourism, Education and Virtual Museums26-28 September
The rapid advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the conservation, management and diffusion of cultural heritage allows for the substitution - with ever greater speed – of some tools for others, multiplying the possibilities for experts but also raising new issues and challenges, especially in the field of museums and archaeological sites, which highlights the key role that technology plays in the evolution towards the sustainable development of cultural heritage and tourism.
Given the intensive nature of tourism, ICTs have become essential tools for the tourism sector to improve its efficiency and increase competitiveness, as well as to enhance the sustainability of heritage resources. Moreover, these tools are proving effective in the field of education due to their intrinsically didactic character and their great ability to connect with new generations growing up in the midst of the digital era.
