Please find attached the press release issued by our Bremerhaven assembly organisers to announce the winners of EMYA 2011.  It is provided here in both English and German versions.

 

This was published on the evening of Saturday 21 May, and was distributed to an extensive list of European press contacts.  We would very much appreciate it if you would circulate the press release as widely as possible among your own contacts.

 

The European Museum Forum Annual Assembly and European Museum of the Year Award 2011 Ceremony was a great success this year.  Over 130 people met in Bremerhaven between the 18 and the 21 May to share experiences, discuss current activity and trends in European Museums and to forge new relationships with colleagues from throughout Europe. 

 

The Award Ceremony on the evening of Saturday 21 May was the highlight of the event and we were delighted to present The European Museum of the Year 2011 Award to Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren, Belgium.

 

The Kenneth Hudson Award was presented to the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia.

 

We awarded The Silletto Prize to Watersnoodmuseum in Owerkerk, Netherlands.

 

We also presented six Special Commendations, to :

 

o       The British Music Experience in London, UK

o       Douro Museum in Peso da Regua, Portugal

o       The Museum of the Artist and Story-Teller Stepan Pisakhov in Arkhangelsk, Russia

o       Museo Memoria de Andalucia in Granada, Spain

o       Schiller National Museum in Marbach, Germany

o       Tampere 1918 – Museum of Finnish Civil War in Tampere, Finland.
