The Consortium in Biomedical Engineering, C-EBM, offers one research position in the field of Biomedical Engineering – area of Management of Health Systems - through the Centre of Management Studies at Instituto Superior Técnico. The Consortium in Biomedical Engineering gathers several research units, institutes and departments associated to Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), to promote research, innovation and foster connections to the health, clinical and industrial sectors. In the context of the Biomedical Engineering Program at the IST, research in the Management of Health Systems field is developed at the Centre of Management Studies of IST (CEG-IST) which integrates a multidisciplinary team carrying out theoretical and applied research with the aim of applying principles and methodologies of engineering and management sciences to solving real world problems. Research in the Management of Health Systems field at CEG-IST advances knowledge in engineering, management and health and features interdisciplinary projects within three thrust research areas: the development of decision support methods and applications to aid the management of health care units and health care policy; the economic evaluation of health care technologies; and the understanding of the economic, social and political impacts of technological and scientific advances in health. The successful candidate will conduct independent research of international standards in the field of Biomedical Engineering (area: Management of Health Systems) and is also expected to contribute to current research projects, as well as to support activities of scientific supervision and training. Applicants should hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Management, Engineering Sciences, Economics or in any area in the interface of Engineering, Management and Health. They should have a strong publication record in a relevant field of research and provide evidence of the ability to work independently and to effectively participate in inter-disciplinary and international projects. At least 3 years of successful post-doctoral research experience are required. The successful candidates will receive a salary in accordance with the university regulations for a senior researcher. The initial contract is valid for 3 years, renewable for another period of 2 years on mutual agreement. The annual gross income, before taxes, will be approximately 3.101,87 Euros × 14 months.
