The research group at the University of Seville “Optimización”, within the
project Mathematical Programming models, methods and applications
(OPTIMOS2), invites applications for 1 PhD student position.

The studentship, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation
(Grant MTM2009-14039-C06-06), will involve working for 48 months on
one of the two ongoing projects:

• “Deterministic Global Optimization. New methods for optimizing DC
functions”.

• “New Mathematical-Programming based methods for Classification
and Regression”.

The studentship comprises a living allowance at the standard Spanish rate,
tuition fees at the EU student rate. In addition, some travel expenses
(conference attendance plus training abroad) will also be provided.
Candidates for the positions should have a background in Mathematics,
Operations Research, Computer Science or some other quantitative
discipline relevant to the project. Experience in optimization methods and
algorithms design, as well as computer programming skills will be highly
advantageous. Fluency in English is a must; fluency in Spanish is
recommended.
