PhD Candidate in SCM at the University of Hohenheim

 

The Chair of Supply Chain Management at the University of Hohenheim is inviting applications for an OR-oriented PhD position in a research project on Demand Fulfillment.

The preferred starting date is January 1, 2015.

 

About the School

The University of Hohenheim, located in Stuttgart/Germany, is a modern university with a long tradition in the fields of agricultural and natural sciences. The combination of these with the economic and social sciences, which are also well-established, is unique in the state of Baden-Württemberg. PhD project

The position is embedded in the research project â??Demand Fulfillment in Multi-Stage Customer Hierarchiesâ??, funded by the German National Science Foundation (DFG). It is a collaboration between researchers from the Universities of Hohenheim, Mannheim, and Würzburg (Germany).

The goal of the project is to develop quantitative methods for short and medium-term demand prioritization and resource allocation decisions, given a hierarchically structured customer base.

The PhD student is expected to do research on this topic, and to publish it in academic papers and a PhD thesis. The research is executed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Herbert Meyr.

 

Job requirements

Applicants should hold a Masterâ??s degree in operations management, operations research, industrial engineering, or mathematics, preferably with a background in deterministic optimization. Fluency in English is required. Basic knowledge of the German language is a plus but not a must.

 

Conditions of employment

The position offers a 75% employment as PhD Student / Research Assistant according to German public sector scale TVL E-13. It is available for three years.
