The EURO Winter Institute 2018 in Frankfurt (Oder) invites advanced PhD students and young PostDocs (up to 2 years after the PhD) to meet and learn from senior experts in that field and to study various special topics in the context of lot sizing. This institute also serves as a platform for presenting and discussing their research with other researchers and to give support to them for their academic careers. The institute will be held at the university campus of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. The university is located directly at the border of Germany and Poland and can be reached easily by a 70 minutes train ride from Berlin. 

 

Important dates

- Deadline for application:  Oct. 31th, 2017  Nov. 15th, 2017 

- Notification of acceptance: Dec. 2017

- Winter Institute: Mar 5th - 16th, 2018

- Deadline for special issue: Summer 2018

 

Topics:

Submissions of any field related to lot sizing are welcome. The planned tutorials will cover the following topics:

- (Historic) overview on lot sizing

- Exact solution approaches

- Heuristic solution methods

- Stochastic lot sizing problems

- Lot sizing and scheduling / routing / …

- Applications of lot sizing

- Stochastic Optimization

- Metaheuristics

 

Format 

Tutorials by senior experts

Presentation by participants

Feedback rounds in small groups

 

Application

Applicants should send the following documents until October 31th, 2017 by E-mail to ewi2018@europa-uni.de:

- Curriculum vitae

- Extended abstract of 8-10 pages

- Letter of recommendation from the supervisor or head of department

 

Fees:

There is no registration fee. The EURO Winter Institute will cover the accommodation in a single room, meals (breakfast and lunches) and social activities. Travelling expenses are not covered.
