Medicon 2019, 26-28 September, Coimbra Portugal
Special Session on Optimization in Medicine and Biology
Nowadays, healthcare is facing new and more complex challenges than ever before. It is necessary to guarantee that better healthcare services are delivered (in terms of treatment, preventive medicine and diagnosis, for instance), but costs are kept as low as possible, guaranteeing the sustainability of the healthcare systems. Healthcare has to be understood as a multidisciplinary field, enriched by the joint collaboration of researchers with different scientific backgrounds.
Optimization plays an important role in this context. It enables the delivery of better treatments, the optimization of preventive actions scheduling, promotes a better use of resources, the understanding of epidemic behaviours, the simulation of biological systems, among many other applications.
In this session we welcome contributions in this interesting and broad research field.
