Abstract: The location-routing problem (LRP) is a class of problems within locational analysis which simultaneously considers location and distribution decisions. In this talk, the general structure of LRPs will be briefly introduced, and main variants in the literature presented. As interest in this class of problems has been steadily growing, current solution approaches will be discussed, and an overview of best exact and heuristic methods will be provided, mostly on the capacitated location-routing problem. Finally, several promising applications for the LRP are presented and discussed.
