Organized through the collaboration of the İznik Museum, Bursa Uludağ University, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, and the Municipality of İznik, the opening ceremony and the morning sessions on 19 June 2026 will be hosted by the Municipality of İznik, while the remaining sessions will be held at the İznik Foundation Campus. The RoGeMoPorTur Project (Roman Geometric Mosaics in Portugal and Turkey: A Comparative Study) is a pilot initiative dedicated to fostering scientific cooperation in the field of Roman mosaic studies between Portugal and Türkiye. The project seeks to identify and comparatively analyze the cultural hybridization reflected in Roman mosaics from both regions and to explore the cultural exchanges between East and West that emerged through the mobility of craftsmen, commercial networks, and contacts across different parts of the Roman Empire. The project is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şahin (Türkiye) and Dr. Maria de Jesus Duran Kremer (Portugal). For your convenience, the conference poster, programme, and book of abstracts are attached to this message. Kindest regards.
