Dear Arch-Metals,    The following post has been advertised at the British Museum. The   notice   is short but it is possible to submit an application electronically. It   has been on ConsDistList and can be found on the British Museum website   at the URL below.      Conservation Scientist - Metals  Conservation, Documentation and Science  British Museum  circa UKP23,000 pa.    You will undertake research and other investigations into the  deterioration, conservation and technology of non precious metal  artefacts in the British Museum; and to provide scientific services  within the aims of the Museum, disseminating results through  reports, publication and lecturing.    Your main duties will include:         *   To be a specialist in the scientific investigation of non           precious metals         *   To be a member of pan department project teams investigating           the deterioration, conservation and technology of metal           objects         *   To
 co-ordinate the development of new projects within the           Museum and CDS research strategies         *   To participate in the development of research collaborations           with external museum and HE partners         *   To be responsible for management and development of           metallurgy facilities         *   To be involved in the delivery of Museum wide projects such           as exhibitions, new object stores, catalogues and excavation           reports         *   To conduct analysis to facilitate conservation and curation           of the collection         *   To deliver own work programme as agreed         *   To lecture and publish in own specialist area    You will have a Degree and PhD in chemistry or archaeological  science, a track record in research in archaeological metals, and  experience of working in a university department or an institution  which has a reputation for investigation of metals and other  inorganic materials found in
 archaeological collections.
