The Propylaeum project is a virtual library that offers subject information across the entire spectrum of Classical Studies.  At the moment the Internet portal has coverage of the following subjects: Egyptology, Ancient History, Classical Archaeology, Classical Philology and Pre- and Early History. It is planned to add the subjects Ancient Near and Middle East, Byzantine Studies and Medieval and Neo-Latin Philology, at a later date.

An overview of the individual subject modules that are offered by this portal is available via the option “All Subjects.” The meta-search Propylaeum-Search will be constantly expanded to cover more sources, allowing simultaneous searching in a number different retrieval systems and databases.

At the moment the following modules are available:

- Library Catalogues: Searches for specialist books and journals.

- New Acquisitions: Displays newly acquired books from the past twelve months.

- Journals / Articles: An overview of all subject relevant electronic journals (EZB); you can search with (OLC-SSG) for specialist literature.

- Subject Databases: An overview of all specialist subject databases (DBIS).

- Digital Collections: Access to digitized editions, manuscripts, reference works and text corpora..

- Internet Resources: Academically relevant Internet resources for Classical Studies.

- Ordering Literature: Overview of the (online) ordering options for Classical Studies literature.

- Academic and Research Services: Up-to-date announcements for those interested in Classical Studies covering careers, research and teaching.

- E-Publishing: Possibilities for the electronic publishing of Classical Studies texts.
