The Beazley Archive at Oxford's Classical Art Research Centre has
added a new database to its range of online resources, thanks to the generosity
of Dr Nancy A. Winter. The Etruscan & Italian Architectural Terracottas database is founded on a
revised and updated version of the material in her book, Symbols of Wealth and
Power: Architectural Terracotta
Decoration in Etruria and Central Italy, 640-510 B.C. (University of Michigan
Press, 2009 [MAAR Supplement 9]).
To access the database go to:
http://www.carc.ox.ac.uk/databases/terracottas.htm
The database comprises nearly 8,000 records. It is searchable through more than
100 criteria (Advanced Search) or a more restricted range of 7 criteria
(Standard Search). It contains many high-resolution drawings and plans that are
available for use and publication without restriction.
