European Museum of the Year Award 2012 – Nominations.

Dear Colleagues

The Judging Panel of the European Museum of the Year Award 2012 (EMYA 2012) met in Paris at the end of November. All fourteen EMYA 2012 Judges attended this three-day meeting where 59 candidates from 20 European countries were discussed.

Please find attached the list of candidates who have received a nomination from the EMYA2012 Judging Panel.

All candidate museums have been notified and the list has been published on the EMF website :

http://europeanmuseumforum.info/images/documents/emya_2012_nominated_museums.pdf

The winner of the European Museum of the Year Award 2012, Kenneth Hudson Award, Silletto Prize for Volunteers and other awards will be announced as part of the EMF 2012 Assembly in Penafiel, Portugal, from 16 to 19 May 2012.

The Judging Panel submitted a short list of three candidates for the Council of Europe Museum Prize to the Committee on Culture, Science and Education of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The list was considered at the meeting of the Committee on 5 December. By decision of the Committee, the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum – Kulturen der Welt (Cultures of the World) in Cologne, Germany, has become winner of the Council of Europe Prize for 2012.

All candidates are welcome at the 2012 EMF Assembly and EMYA 2012 Award Ceremony in Penafiel and the nominated museums are also invited to take part in public interviews during the Assembly.

Our colleagues in Penafiel are currently working on the system of registration for the Assembly which will be available in the beginning of 2012. Please note that a discounted registration fee will be offered for early registration. This will be the 35th EMF Assembly and EMYA Ceremony and we would be happy to see you and your colleagues there.

With very best wishes

Doric
