[APDIO] Five post-doctoral research scholarships

The University of Aveiro intends to stimulate a new research field, "Cloud
Thinking", and invites applications for up to five post-doctoral research
scholarships.

The five post-doctoral research scholarships are in the following areas:
- Distributed system, cloud infrastructures
- Sensors networks and real time data acquisition and processing
- Huge data analysis, using Boolean functions and Boolean reasoning
- Data/text management, mining and knowledge discovery
- Health applications in Cloud computing
- Intelligent algorithms for mobile robotics The goal of these scholarships
is to promote research on large-scale distributed systems, cloud computing,
big data analysis. The candidates will integrate a team of more than 20
researchers with complementary skills, such as mathematics foundations,
information extraction and cloud applications (sensor networks, biomedicine,
intelligent robotics).

These scholarships are granted for one year and are renewable up to two
years. The net scholarship value is 1495 euros per month, paid by cheque or
bank transfer. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree and relevant research
experience in one of above-mentioned areas.
Applications should include the following items:
a) Detailed Curriculum Vitae;
b) Copy of an identification document;
c) Copies of certificates of academic qualifications;
d) The names and contact data of three academic references.
The applications must be submitted by April 8, 2013, by e-mail to Anabela
Viegas (anabela.viegas@ua.pt) identifying the subject of the call

The academic and professional profile(s) of the applicant(s) will be
considered on an individual basis regarding their suitability to the
position. The quality of the applicants' curricula will be evaluated by the
number and quality of the listed publications as well as by the
scientific/professional activities. If deemed necessary, the applicants will
be called in for interviews. The University of Aveiro will be free to select
the candidates to fill the positions and reserves the right not to do so
regardless of the results achieved in this call. The board for evaluation
and ranking of applications will be composed of Prof. Dr. José Luís
Oliveira, Prof. Dr. Rui Aguiar and Prof. Dr. Domingos Cardoso.

These scholarships are granted according to the Regulamento de Bolsas de
Investigação Científica da Universidade de Aveiro - Regulamento n.º
341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2ª série, n.º 98, May 20, 2011,
and the Estatuto de Bolseiro de Investigação Científica, Law n.º 40/2004,
August 18, 2004.
