The School of Industrial Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions that will complement and enrich the School’s current research and education thrusts, and will contribute to consolidate its thriving PhD program. Two positions are available, at junior or senior levels, depending on the candidate’s background. The starting date of the appointment is between September 2014 and March 2015. Preference will be given to candidates that might qualify for the School’s Graduate Faculty, which entails producing high impact publications and developing externally funded research programs.
The School of Industrial Engineering has established itself as one of the best engineering programs in the country, attracting outstanding students. Successful candidates will further impact the School’s ambitious plan for growth and visibility in the Industrial Engineering field. The University is located at the heart of the Valparaíso metropolitan area, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO and recently touted as a “great university city”. Candidates must hold a PhD with strong methodological background and research interests and experience in one or more of the following areas Management Science, Manufacturing and Production Systems, Operation Research and Management, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Stochastic Modeling or Computer Science. Candidates should also demonstrate a strong commitment to quality research and teaching in their discipline and enthusiasm for collaborative and interdisciplinary scholarly work at an international level.
The School is especially interested in candidates who will collaborate, through their research, teaching and/or service, in fostering excellence in its academic environment. The development of the candidate’s line of research should strengthen or contribute to the PhD program areas in Operations Research and Quantitative Methods or Systems Modeling, with applications in diverse areas such as planning, scheduling, design, project management, shop control, supply chain management, and network organizations.
Appointment level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and accomplishments. Salary is competitive at the international level, and is complemented with research incentives and access to support funds.
