MCDM/A: Some personal thoughts and contributions

In this Seminar Prof. José Rui Figueira will present a talk about his research. He will provide a broad view of his research subjects and the path that led him to produce an impressive amount of high quality research in MCDM/A.

José Rui Figueira is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering and Management of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) – Ulisboa and was recently awarded with the prestigious scientific Gold Medal of the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making (a society with more than 2000 members, were origins dates back to 1974). "This is the highest honor that the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making (http://www.mcdmsociety.org/) bestows upon a scholar who, over a distinguished career, has markedly contributed to the theory, methodology, practice and professional development of MCDM." Prof.  Figueira is a leading researcher in Multiple Criteria Decision Making/Aiding (MCDM/A). Author of more than 100 scientific publications, he devoted his research career, over the last twenty years, to develop a wide variety of models, methods, and techniques for MCDM/A, without forgetting the applied side of research, software, and professional developments. He is currently one of the coordinators of the European Working Group on Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding (a society with more than 350 members, were origins dates back to 1975).
