[Thedu] Reasons for this year failure:/ Reasons to pursue

Dear Members of the THedu Interest Group 

Trying to seed the discussion about THedu future.


Reasons for this year failure:

(1) The number of people working in this area is too small to carry a
 workshop of their own.

(2) This year is an ADG's year (every even year). There is an important
 intersection between our group and the ADG group (at least Francisco
 Botana, Predrag Janicic, Julien Narboux, Pedro Quaresma, Laurent
 Thery)

(3) The fact that our Eu-application did not go through.

(4) ... 

Reasons to pursue/actions to emend this year failure

A) To have THedu only at odd years. this will address (2) and (1);

B) To enlarge the set of members of our interest group (even from
outside EU).

I've sent (maybe too late) a personal letter to other researchers:
Loïc Pottier, Frederique Guilhot, Yves Bertot, Jurgen Richter-Gebert,
Ulrich Kortenkamp, Sean Wilson, Jacques D. Fleuriot, Xiao-Shan Gao,
Shang-Ching Chou, Zheng Ye.

Can you suggest/contact others? This is an important issue.


C) To learn from Deducation failure, trying to improve the proposal
and/or our THedu group description.

I'm sure that Burkhart can help with this.


As Walther said in a previous message:

"The potential of TP components in educational software is an open
question (...) the discussion seems to deserve a focus on technology
as well; my personal hope is that THedu will provide a forum for such
discussions"
