Decision-support models and tools for helping to make

real progress to more sustainable societies

Call for papers for a Special Volume of the Journal of Cleaner Production

Guest-Editors: Ernesto D.R.S. Gonzalez*, Nelson Maculan, Ali Diabat, Luisa Huacho Huatuco, Jairo R. Montoya-Torres, Cecilia M.V.B. de Almeida, Biagio F. Giannetti and Donald Huisingh

Climate change and its consequences for human life has become an issue that has caused public concern in recent years. Moreover, the combined recent changes in the economy, environment and society have forced regulators to establish and implement tougher laws and more strict controls. In this context, sustainable development has emerged as a key concept, which provides a broad framework for addressing sustainability issues, which can enable organizations and governments to ensure coordination for economic, environmental, societal and ethical compliance.

TOPICAL AREAS

Authors should address the core objectives of Journal of Cleaner Production. We are interested in cutting-edge developments, concepts, practices and research opportunities in decision-making models for sustainability. Papers are invited, which build theory or test theory with rigor, extend existing theory in different contexts.Papers, which examine emerging practices and new concepts in developed and developing economies are also invited. Methodologies adapted in these studies could be built upon mathematical models or simulations, and build upon real world findings and in-depth case studies, or empirical survey-based research. Researchers can submit recent research findings and perspectives that engage methods, models, and decision-support systems for addressing sustainability problems. Comprehensive, integrative reviews of this field are also welcomed.

Suggested topics of interest include, but not limited to:

·   Sustainable Supply Chain Management

·   Carbon Capture and Sequestration

·   Reverse Logistics

·   Optimization and Operations Research for Development
