Dear National Society Presidents and Representatives,
Imagine twenty to twenty-five promising young researchers spending two weeks together to discuss and develop their research ideas, under the supervision of top scientists in their field. This is exactly what a EURO Summer or Winter Institute (ESWI) is. For all young researchers who take part in a ESWI, this is a life-changing experience with an enormous impact on their scientific career. For many of them, "their" ESWI is where they develop their research network, and improve their research skills, both of which will help them tremendously in later life. The organizers of a ESWI, gain an extremely rewarding experience: to help launch the research careers of their younger colleagues.
Since 1984, EURO Summer/Winter Institutes (ESWI) have been one of EURO's main instruments to invest in the future of Operational Research. The continuing success of this instrument, however, relies crucially on people within the OR community to organize the institutes. This message is a warm call to interested candidates to apply for the organization of a EURO Summer or Winter Institute.
Two ESWIs can be organized every year, and EURO provides considerable financial support of up to €25.000 (€1000 per participant). More information, including the application procedure, can be found on the EURO website (https://www.euro-online.org/web/pages/308/guidelines).
