the 1st to the 4th of October. We have the honour to have as keynote speakers three distinguished personalities of the area: - David Martell (University of Toronto),
- Yu Wei (Colorado State University), and
- José Borges (University of Lisbon). The conference location is in a landmark Portuguese forest (Mata do Bussaco, a managed forest since the XVII century)
in the center of Portugal, a region that was tragically devastated by wildfires in 2017.
It has the support of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology through project O3F - An Optimization Framework
to reduce Forest Fire (https://o3f.dps.uminho.pt), IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) and APDIO (Portuguese Operational Research Society). We believe the conference will result in a vision of the state-of-the-art and the identification of emergent topics in
O&W, affirming the relevance and potential of Operational Research, Optimization and related areas in wildfire management.
