— Call For Papers  —

A Special Session on

Supply Chain Design, Optimization, and Management

2014 IEEE Symposium on

Computational Intelligence in Production and Logistics Systems

Orlando, Florida, USA – December 9-12, 2014.

Technical Focus

Nowadays, customer demand for order variety, short lead time, increased quality, sustainability concerns, and fast delivery have created a great impact on manufacturing and logistics problems. The related problems of manufacturing and logistics support are even more crucial than ever. Traditional approaches are incapable of dealing with the challenges of intractable problems. Thus, there is a need for the development of new solution methods to address these challenging issues. Metaheuristics and heuristic provide a new problem-solving paradigm for researchers and practitioners.

Papers are invited dealing with theoretical and experimental advances in the use of computational intelligence for the design, optimization, and management of manufacturing/service supply chains and logistics systems. The goal of this special session is to present theoretical concepts and practical state-of-the-art approaches to solve challenging problems in logistics systems, enabled by improved mathematical models and novel solution procedures based on metaheuristics, hybrids, and heuristics.

Papers should include novel theoretical contributions or applications. It is preferable to have theoretical results complemented with experimental evaluations.  Papers from the industrial sector are strongly encouraged.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

·      Managing Disruptions in Supply Chains

·      Supply Chain Management

·      Reverse Logistics

·      Green Supply Chain Management

·      Supply Network Design

·      Vehicle Routing

·      Transportation Science and Logistics
